Howdy user,
In March 2007 a group of young international entrepreneurs decided to try to change the world. Literally. Our idea was to have people post their needs and let companies subscribe to them and offer their services, all without restricting people to narrow categories. We set up our HQ in the US and an office for development in Santiago, Chile. Our very first vision statement said something like:
"To solve local needs world-wide"
Over the following months we wrote a business plan, attracted some investors and launched a test-version in our test-market, Chile. Some things worked, some didn't. But we managed to show that companies - big and small, good and bad - were interested in our concepts. Buyers liked us too. Posting a free-text need for services like gardening, properties and home improvement and getting relevant offers back is pretty compelling compared to say... searching.
We did have some problems. Product not catchy enough. Needed more charm. Interfaces not good enough. Vision couldn't be supported by our resources. Determined to change the world we decided to make some changes, to take all the good stuff we had learned and start all over again, this time with the following vision:
"To solve local needs world-wide"
"But that's the same vision," you might say.
Indeed it is, but the plan is very different.
We offer the version of Needish you are using today, a new kind of marketplace for services, help and ideas integrated as a social network with a purpose: solving local needs. And we're working on more features to make Needish even better.
We are happy that thousands of users are already getting helped in Needish. Small companies and vendors are winning clients. People are finding new friends with the same interests and helping out their existing friends, and it feels good.
It's tricky to launch a marketplace. We appreciate your patience and your feedback. Gradually, we will add more and more functionality, and you will be a part of our vision taking shape (and hopefully get help for your needs!). Thank you from our offices in Palo Alto, California and Santiago, Chile.
