Used Computer for high schools in Africa

The Canaan Foundation (http://thecanaanfoundation.com) has been helping to promote computer literacy in Sub-Saharan Africa since 1996, with hundreds of computers already donated to schools, orphanages, and related facilities in rural villages in Kenya and Cameroon. We believe that technology can play a significant leading role in the developing world and that advancing IT/computer education is the best way to bridge the gap between developing countries and the world’s leading economies.

The needs of our organization are simple. We function solely on donations and we need support, both financial and material. We strive to create a critical mass of computers to give students the tools they need to be successful. Our efforts have already directly advanced small business ventures, wildlife conservation, and cultural initiatives in rural Africa.

IT education can change the face of Africa – but we need your help. Projects are ongoing in Kenya and Cameroon. We are seeking modern, working machines (Pentium III or better) which can be tested and guaranteed working before shipment. The Canaan Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization; most donations are tax deductible. For donations of 50 or more machines, we assist with the cost of shipment to our warehouse in East Hartford, CT.

Sounds like a great project! I don't have a computer lying around but am going to forward this to friends who might. Best of luck.
