Shipping furniture
I need to ship a large chest of drawers from San Francisco to Maryland. I have one quote from a common carrier for $647. I need to find a cheaper alternative. Does anyone know a good long distance common carrier?

You might want to edit your Need to give a little more information, like where exactly in MD you're shipping to, how heavy the chest of drawers is (more or less, if you don't know specifics) and if you have an approx ship date. That way someone will be able to give you a more specific quote! Click "edit" under the Need to add info. As far as personal recommendations, I know my family has used Mayflower and Bekin in the past for several moves, including international, with great results, but they are likely more expensive.
