She's turning 58 tomorrow and coming to visit me from France (that's where she lives) next week so the clock is ticking... Typical person who already has pretty much what she needs, and I'm tired of giving her books and stuff about her hobbies (painting, photography and travelling). I wanted to take her on a trip with me to Vietnam this summer but she's already fully booked... Any brilliant / original ideas?

Hi Jenn! Any other tips about what your mom likes (outdoor activities, food, music, etc) or where you guys are going to be in the US as far as possible restaurants and activities? If she likes photography, what about getting her a nice print of where you live, so she can enjoy the art and think of you at the same time? Shouldn't be too hard to get a photo studio to package it for the plane trip back to France. Or, since you wanted to take her on vacation, why don't you do a mini-vacation one day that you guys are together? Go to a spa, on a hike, wine tasting, sky diving...whatever she might like, with a great meal or two thrown in. If she lives in France she probably appreciates nice food! I'm from the SF Bay Area but live in Chile, and I know I miss plenty of food from the US
Good luck, have a great time with your mom!
Take your mum to Vegas and go crazy together, your gift could be a: "Feel young for the week-end" - package... packed with weird stuff (and some less weird stuff)...
Or you could just offer her a date with your roommate ![]()
Dude, you're not dating my mom. Plus, knowing her, even if you did take her out, she'd spend the whole time trying to set you up with me... embarassing!!
Emily, thanks for the photo idea - she actually does art framing so I could try to find something NOT framed that she could work on. I'll start looking
We did a spa thing together last year which was great too, by the way ![]()
Hi! What about a draw? I mean a drawn of her or something she likes. I remember once i gave somebody a draw of a picture of her. And I think she likes. I had to hire somebody good for drawings but I think finally it was worth it. I don't know, just a suggestion. I hope this suggestion be useful for you. Sorry for my poor english...
Bye!
SuperIdea! Give her an envelop with a signed promise for the future. That you will come visit her for a full week without husband and kids (or whatever applies) wherever she lives as long as she gives you 2 SuperMonths of SuperNotice! That was all for me, BYE! SHH
