Hey! I am heading to Uruguay this week for a few days and wanted some advice about where to go and what to do. I'm into hiking, nature, outdoor markets and wandering cool streets. Also, maybe some places to see good live music?
Hola! Yo voy a visitar Uruguay por una semana. Me voy este jueves y quería algunas recomendaciones. A mí me encanta trekking, la naturaleza, mercados, y generalmente deambulando por calles interesantes. También, alguien conoce un bar que tenga buena música?

Dont despair, help is on its way (from a dude from Uruguay who Id trust with... well maybe not my sister... but definitely a cat!)
There are a lot of places you can visit. If you like nature you have many parks (Prado, Parque Rodo, Parque de Los Aliados) and the coast. Also visit Punta del Este, Punta Ballena (CasaPueblo) and Piriapolis (some pics: http://flickr.com/photos/pviojoenchile/sets/72157605501275604/ )
If you like tipical markets visit "Tristán Narvaja", on Sunday. Historical Places: Ciudad Vieja (until 6pm), Colonia del Sacramento (about 200 km from Montevideo)
Tipical Food: Mercado del Puerto, near Montevideo's Port (1pm-4pm), La Pasiva (many places, let me suggest "Chivito Canadiense")
Good music: Everywhere, on streets, on bars...everywhere...

Prima! Bienvenidos a Needish.
Get some sleep. Don't get eaten by alligators. And most importantly: STAY AWAY FROM URUGUAYAN BOYS. --- primo
@Phil: No alligators in Uruguay, (well some little ones, but they won't eat you)...and Uruguayan Boys...they are good boys ![]()
Hey! I've only been to Colonia (it's a day trip from Buenos Aires), which is a cute little town right on the water...you can rent little motorcycles and cruise around town. If you're nearby, I would recommend checking it out. Have a great trip!
