Needs about birthday

on 6/30/2008 I'm trying to organize a dinner and bar night for a good friend's 21st birthday, and wondering if anyone knows any great, trendy spots for drinking and dining in downtown Palo Alto? I was thinking that reserving a table at the Old Pro might be fun -- does anyone know whether they do that for parties or not? It would be on a Saturday night, in case that complicates things. Thanks!

I'm looking for something creative to give my boyfriend of two years for his birthday. Generally I like to give "experiences" (e.g. a weekend skiing) instead of "things," but any suggestions are welcome! We're both in our earlier 20s if that helps.

on 4/16/2008 She's turning 58 tomorrow and coming to visit me from France (that's where she lives) next week so the clock is ticking... Typical person who already has pretty much what she needs, and I'm tired of giving her books and stuff about her hobbies (painting, photography and travelling). I wanted to take her on a trip with me to Vietnam this summer but she's already fully booked... Any brilliant / o...
